Not even knitting my beautiful Noro sock can make me feel better about my new Elna and how she arrived. Seriously, how f'ing hard is it to pack a sewing machine for shipping????? I thought I would be golden with the Ebay seller I bought her from. She had 600 sales or so and not a peep of complaint to be found. Everyone said what I great job she did in packing their item. I even sent her a website link that went into detail about how to ship a machine. I felt secure when she said she would bubble wrap everything and make sure nothing could move or bang around in and through out the machine case and box. I really pressed the point of bubble wrap as your best friend when shipping machines. A nice big fat layer of it. What I got was a handful of fucking pink foam peanuts and some smallish pieces of Styrofoam.

Yea.. care in packing...not so f'ing much..eh??? She has damage to her paint that wasn't there in the auction photos from all her crap banging and bashing around for 13 days of shipping. The little case that holds all the bobbins and feet and stitch cams is broken...smashed.

This is exactly how she looked when I opened her. Like a damned thread spider made its nest inside and caught all her parts and pieces for dinner. It is so sad to treat such a beautiful 50 some odd year old machine this way. Seriously....I wanted to cry. ;0(

Now the de-tangling begins and all I can think about is....please o please let the machine run at least. Please let that part be ok............pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

Here's the good news...she purrs like a kitten, has been very well maintained. Her insides are gorgeous. Except for some extra scuffs...and a smashed accessories box she is good to go. I'm sure with some epoxy I can do a so-so repair on the little black box...but that's not the damn point. 3 frigging bucks worth of bubble wrap would have made all the difference. You know what I mean??????? CRAP! crap crappity crap..........
- NOW PLAYING IN THE DEVIL BOX: "Otis" .........and a documentary, "The American Hobo"
P.s.....sorry I didn't add any finished cupcake pictures. They were mysteriously wolfed down by citizens of this house before I could pose them up all purty like........ ;0)

Wow, I don't even know what to say, I am staring at these photos in disbelief and amazement. So glad that after all of YOUR hard work it ran in the end. Whew!!
I'm so sorry about what happened to your sewing machine. I hope that you bitched the seller out about the packing because that was a big bad on her part. Shipping is not easy on anything and she should have packed the machine accordingly, so she should at least be aware of the mistake she made and reprimanded for it. Also when are we going to knit together? I work all the time now except Fridays during the day, Sundays and Mondays.
Geez, your poor machine. Glad she works well.
What a freakin moron that seller is.. I hope you chewed her head up and spat it back out at her for this. Totally unforgivable to treat a machine this way!! I bubblewrap my stitchmarkers & spindles when I send them out -- I cannot believe how crappy some people wrap their merchandise.
Arrrrrgh, what a bummer! I will chime in here and say that I hope you gave the damnned seller a good and holy piece of your mind, missy. Glad it runs...
I went by Aloha Yarn today to knit for awhile, but no sign of you.
ouch! it hurt to look at the photos - it's a miracle it's working....hmmmm, wonder what kinda rating/comments she'll be receiving from you...
awww...honey...sorry to read about how condition of the new addition...however i am glad to hear that she runs...some people...
i love the color. she is a very pretty machine.
OMG....That is inexcusable! How awful, I'm so sorry Moon. Hope you ripped into her. She should at the very LEAST refund the shipping since she did a crap job of packing it. Hope her repair is swift and she's running just fine.
XOXO
wtf?! remember what the mean girls say: put it in the book, honey...
